URL Redirect Tool Introduced in our Web Hosting Control Panel

We are extremely pleased to inform you that today we are introducing a new menu in our clients’ Web Hosting Control panel called – URL Redirection. This new service will provide the option for our clients to install a URL redirection for any URL that is hosted in their account to another URL irregardless of where it is hosted. The latter “Password Protected Areas” menu in the Control panel has been renamed to – URL Protect & Redirect and now hosts the functionality to both redirect URL as well as password protect them.
This new menu is designed the way that practically everyone can use it with ease. It does have a simplified and a more advanced option. The so called more advanced option will allow you to chose redirection for specified items only – from a unique URL – associated with a predefined criteria.

URL Redirection Menu

In order to activate such an redirection the clients must first select the type of redirection: a regular one: Redirect Directive, or a defined one – RedirectMatch Directive. Next thing to do is select a domain name or a subdomain name from the dropdown menu.
Note that only domain names hosted in the account will appear in this dropdown menu. Also a directory path must be entered correctly (URL) of the actual folder that will be redirected. Do not forget to set the correct HTTP Status Code – you will find all relevant information regarding the different codes by hovering the mouse over the little blue question mark icon next to the HTTP Status Code and also available in the Help Center menu.
And last but not least the client must specify the desired URL path to where the redirection will be pointing to and click on the save button.
If a “RedirectMatch” option has been selected than an additional field must be entered for “Regular Expression”. This field is the place where the client specifies the criteria for the redirection to actually take place. Hence the name “Regular Expressions”. A typical scenario is only .gif file types from a specific URL (web directory) to be redirected to a new URL.
