New File Manager Major Update – Version 2.01 Released

We are pleased to let all our clients know that the new version of our File Manager software available in the Web Hosting Control Panel has been released. The new version greatly improves the File manager including various new services as well as a bunch of enhances. The new version 2.01 contains more features and improved capability. The fact that after the launch of the latter version 2.0 we have been addressing the feedback that we got from you, our customers, has tremendously helped us to improve the File Manager and make it just the way you like it. After all it is our in-house built software so we got our developers together and got the best of them to realize the best of YOUR ideas.

The result is that the new version includes many new features previously unavailable:

1. Every time you click on a file/folder you will get the “Download” option to open up independently rather than the way it used to be offered along with the “Open” option (Open/Download).

2. ‘Download’ option is also present in the up/down action toolbar. The new buttons will allow you to select numerous files for download. All selected files will be automatically archived into a .zip file and download on your computer.

3. Now you can even download folders. Again the folder will be automatically archived into a .zip file and downloaded on your computer.

4. Archive/ZIP option will allow you to archive a selected folder into a .zip file which will be saved into the parent folder of the folder being archived.

5. Every file/folder info field will now include a new icon. This icon’s purpose is solely to change the permission of the file/folder with just one click on it.

6. ‘Enter Custom Path’ – This new feature will allow our clients to open a custom folder by entering the full path of the desired folder. This is particularly valuable for often visited host objectives. This is a time-saver since you will not have to browse through all the folders until you get to the desired folder.

7. ‘Quick Links Path’ – If the folder name in which you are currently in does not appear in full, all you need to do is hover with the mouse over the partially displayed name and the full name of the folder and its path will appear.

8. The aforementioned capability is applicable in the file/folder names when being too long to be displayed. A simple mouse hover and voila the full name will appear. Simple as that.

9. Yet another innovation is the ability to have your files and folders listed by name and size. Please NOTE: that Name listing is available for all files and folders where the Size listing is only available for files.

10. Certainly the part that has benefited from the upgrade to the new version of the File manager the most, is in fact the Plain Text Editor. Many bugs have been removed as well as a couple of new things have been introduced:
‘Go to line’ field – simply enter the line you want to go to and hit enter, then you will be moved automatically to the corresponding line number in the document. This is vital when you know where you need to edit something, for example a script error such as “error on line 123”.
The Save and Close functions have endured a minor modification. Previously there was only one button named “Save” which did both things; it saved all changes and closed the editing file window. We have separated things into two buttons. There is one called “Apply Changes” and it will only save/apply the changes up until the moment it has been pressed, and a second button called “Save and Close” which will save and close the editing software window.
The good old saving shortkey Ctrl+S will also work in the new text editor.
