.EU Added to the Domain Extension List
.EU ADDED TO THE DOMAIN EXTENSION LIST
[11/13/2007]
We would like to inform our clients that the .eu TLD (top level domain) is now available for registration in the Web Hosting Control Panels’ Domain manager under the registrar/transfer section. This is a great convenience for all our European clients for sure. Since this TLD stands for European Union, only residents and organizations based in the EU can own such a domain name.
Therefore we would like to summarize the main .eu details regarding this TLD:
Registrant Location: – The owner person or organization must be a resident of a country that is part of the European Union.
Registration Period: The registration of a .eu domain name is possible only for 1 year in advance.
Domain Renewal: Renewal is also possible only for one year in advance and requests can be received until the expiration date for the domain name but cannot be later than 20th of every month. For example if a domain name expires on the 28th of August, the renewal request must be sent prior to 20th of August, or a renewal will not be possible.
Pre-Configuration: As stated a valid postal address resident in the European Union is required for a successful registration. The .eu TLD registry EURid will check the information and accept or reject the registration request. We will of course keep you updated if a problem arises with such a registration.
WHOIS Management: Whois information CAN NOT be edited once a domain name is registered. Small changes to the whois can be done only manually by opening up a Trouble ticket from the Help Center menu inside the Web Hosting Control Panel. Note that the personal or company details of the registrant cannot be changed since this will be treated as a “transfer” In order for such details to be changed or a transfer to be conducted EURid must be contacted directly by the current owner for the domain name.
WHOIS / ID Protection: This TLD does not support Whois/id Protection.
Registrar Change / Transfer: Transfers are not possible for .eu TLDs.
We are currently making the necessary updates in order to facilitate the .de TLD. We will keep you posted once we do.
